ABOUT US
Mozaic is a co-ed dance crew at James Madison University established in 2003. We are a competitive team that also performs for events on and off campus.
Mozaic Dance Team
The Purpose of Mozaic Dance Team is to give all dancers the opportunity, in a team atmosphere, to express themselves through dance, performances, and competitions.

As an organization under the Center for Multicultural Student Services (CMSS), Mozaic Dance Team is committed to cultivating a diverse, inclusive environment for all members. We recognize that as an open style/choreography team, we are partaking in black culture and seek to educate all members on the history of hip-hop so that we may continue to resist racism, discrimination, and other forms of stigmatization that have been used to separate and disempower people. Mozaic Dance Team will always strive to increase diversity and representation from all communities, both internally and in its programming within James Madison University and the dance community at large.

what we do
performances
We perform at around 5 on-campus performances per year.
competitions
We attend at least 1 competition per year.
workshops
We hold Moz monday workshops taught by moz members throughout the semester as well the annual coalescence intensive.
Outreach
WE collaborate with other students, organizations, and dance teams.
FAQ’S
do you do fall and spring auditions?
we hold auditions once a year during the fall semester.
Do you have to audition each year or only once?
each returning member must reaudition other than exec members.
can i join other orgs and still do mozaic?
yes, we have members also involved in greeklife, younglife, dt, and more.
however, we do ask that members make their commitment to mozaic a priority.
do you guys offer workshops?
yes, this year we will be holding workshops a few mondays of the semester- open to all levels, free of charge.
what performances do you guys do?
we typically perform at around 5 on campus performances and attend around 1 competition per year.
we also host the annual coalescence showcase every february.
how much are do/ do you have dues?
yes, we have dues each semester. the amount of dues depends on the needs and number of members each year.
we have payment plans and are willing to work with you if dues are an issue.
when do you all practice?
mozaic practices wednesday, thursday, and sunday nights.
some additional practices may be scheduled closer to competitions and performances.
what are you all looking for in auditions?
we are looking for people who seem to work well in group environments, are willing to take feedback, and consistently show up prepared and ready to work hard.
what does mozaic value as an org?
Mozaic values diversity, community, and the education and celebration of hip-hop culture.
MOzaic is an organization under CMSS (Center for multicultural student services).
members will learn more throughout the year on what mozaic values and how to embody those values in all that we do.
